Sowmiya Muralidharan

Sowmiya Muralidharan is one of the senior faculty of Music at Brhaddhvani.

She is known as Svaritha Sowmiya as she has created First Ever Indian Music Education Series- Svaritha. She is the first disciple of the famous painter-musician Shri S. Rajam. She assisted him in numerous music concerts and lecture-demonstrations all over India between 1979-1984. She has specialized the art of Water Coloring under his tutelage. She further went on to embellish her love for music by studying Veena under the guidance of Vidwan Shri R. Shankaran, disciple of Shri G.N. Dandapani Iyer.  She joined Brhaddhvani in the year 1994 and completed COMET Course under the auspices of Dr. Shri Karaikudi S. Subramanian,  in 1997. Subsequently she joined the faculty of Brhaddhvani.

Her forte lies in creating tools to teach children effectively, inspired by the COMET Methodology and innate love for children. Her intellectual understanding of the musical compositions and her ability to interpret Carnatic song repertoire. Concept formation and over all musical scene and purpose when dealing with compositions and direction to children in group situations.

Her naturally dynamic voice has a certain vigor and charm that it is capable of negotiating any kind of musical style effortlessly. The COMET Methodology has given her the right insights and a capacity to deal with her voice and in fine arts she has creatively involved herself in adapting the graphic notation of Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian to teach children through picturesque and innovative means. She has been part of the researches in creating software for children. Has also assisted Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian in curriculum development and in academic presentations and training programs for school teachers.

Sankari Krishnan

Sankari Krishnan is one of the senior faculty of Music at Brhaddhvani.

Sankari Krishnan M.A. M.Phil (Music), a gold medalist from the University of Madras, had her initial training under Dr. Karaikudi S Subramanian. She got advanced training for over a decade from one of the greatest maestros, Padmabhushan Lalgudi Shri G.Jayaraman under whose tutelage she has blossomed into a reputed performer par excellence

Sankari has been an “A” Grade artiste in All India Radio, Chennai since 1993 and has had the privilege of performing in the prestigious “Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan” in the year 2000. Also she has rendered National Programmes in Doordharshan apart from having featured in various private channels. She has performed in most of the prestigious organizations and Sabhas in Chennai and all over India. She has also performed in the United States of America, Germany, Finland, Singapore and Malaysia.

Besides being an accomplished performer, has many years experience as Lecturer in Music at Mother Teresa Women’s University. Presently she is a Senior Faculty at Brhaddhvani, wherein she has imbibed the scientific and holistic teaching methods of COMET Methodology evolved by Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian and is creatively imparting music education.
