With the goal of understanding culture through music, Brhaddhvani places great importance on opportunities to interact and exchange musical experience with practitioners outside the Indian context. This has, in the past, taken the form of individual interactions as well as institutional exchange projects.

The nature of these projects varies from short-term interaction and presentations to in-depth collaborations over a period of time. The Sibelius Academy's (Finland) collaboration on student-teacher exchange as well as Finnish composer, Eero Hamminiemi's creative work with musicians in Chennai are but to name a few.

David Reck, the ethnomusicologist and composer, David Claman, the Composer, Steve Coleman, the Jazz musician, Handel Manuel, the Indian Pianist are few other noteworthy musicians who have contributed through their participation in our intercultural programs. The other musicians and scholars who continue to interact with our musicians and programs are Fullbright and Shastri Indo Canadian Institute Fellows.
